The maintenance guide
Here are the recommendations to take care of your Millésime.
With the right practices, your extensions will enhance your appearance for years to.
Upon receipt of the extensions
You can wear your extensions immediately, but we recommend at least rinsing them before first use.
- 1️⃣ Cut the protective tulle (U Part).
- 2️⃣ Use a mild shampoo to wash your extensions.
- 3️⃣ Apply a moisturizing hair mask evenly.
- 4️⃣ Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.
- 5️⃣ Style your extensions according to your preferences.
Washing the extensions
It is recommended to wash your extensions once a week , especially if you wear them daily. Wash them as soon as they lose their lightness or shine.
After-wash care
Hydration is essential to keep your extensions soft, shiny, and healthy. After washing:
- Apply a moisturizing hair mask to nourish the hair fiber and restore suppleness.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all product residue.
- Apply a small amount of non-greasy serum if needed for detangling and shine.
Product selection
Avoid products or brands specifically designed for Afro hair (often too oily and heavy) as well as those containing alcohol and sulfates. Opt instead for products formulated for dry Caucasian hair.
Why? The extensions are no longer nourished by the natural sebum of the scalp; they require more hydration, without excess oil.
Straightening and curling
Always use a non-greasy heat protectant before blow-drying, straightening, or curling your extensions. Heat should be moderate to avoid damaging the hair fiber.
Bleaching and coloring
Use professional products or consult an experienced colorist. Before, during, and after any coloring process, apply a moisturizing and strengthening treatment. For home use, opt for a 30-volume oxidizing cream or gentle hair color brands like Dark & Lovely .
Long-term maintenance
To maintain the quality and flexibility of your extensions:
- Apply a moisturizing mask after each shampoo.
- Rinse thoroughly to avoid any product buildup.
- Use a light serum between washes to maintain shine.
Use of oils
Daily use of oils is not recommended, especially on the scalp if you have a weave, as they can make the hair greasy and weigh it down. Opt for a non-greasy serum on damp or dry hair for added shine.
Daily care
No heavy conditioning is needed between washes. If desired, apply a light, non-greasy serum to damp or dry hair. ⚠️ Never apply butters, creams, or oils unless you plan to wash your extensions afterward.
